It sucks you guys don't give us a browser to work with

I am trying to put Porteus on a USB stick, but I can't go to a website to download stuff. I need a browser. I am using a Realtek WIFI adapter. If I use an Ethernet cord, I could get it working. Any attempts to USB tethering is failing. I am just going to have to say, Goodbye Puppy Linux, Goodbye SliTaz, and Goodbye Porteus. I tried, I really tried. You are not giving me a way to put an OS on a USB and use the Internet.

Usually, on Peppermint OS, MX Linux, Linux Mint, Ubuntu, etc... I would just go to the 8821au-20210708 folder and type "make" into the terminal and then "sudo make install" and "sudo modprobe 8812au" and whamo!! Internet connection working

Anyways. I have tried, and I am not going to wait any longer.

I'll bury you guys next to AOLpress, Microsoft FrontPage, and Macromedia Flash. RIP :worthy:

Honestly, I don't get it.

If you can't use the internet because you're missing the Wi-Fi drivers, what difference would it make if you had a pre-installed browser?

If, on the other hand, you did have internet access, how hard would it be to click twice on the menu and have Porteus download the browser? It's already set up for that.

Basically, you’re complaining about Porteus’s features (i.e., providing you with a lightweight, customizable distro) to solve problems that you wouldn’t solve this way anyway.

I haven’t been on the forum much lately, but I get the impression you’re not really trying at all.
You have a modular distribution right in front of you, that means you can download a module, copy it to a folder, and you’ve installed what you needed.

So just know that you’re doing things the wrong way.

Bye. :) I will delete your ID next week.

Trying new stuff is tough especially when you have to read and learn how to use it. Time is too valuable to waste learning how things work. :happy62:

BTW: Porteus > Menu > Internet = Browser Selection and Update app. :good:
