A "use case" for PM's...

IMHO... there is a valid place for PM's in a public venue.
A PM is an opportunity to reach out to the other side to get clarity.

My personal view is... disagreement is not unhealthy.
Because consensus can only be reached when everyone is on the same page.

But being on the same page requires sorting out different perspectives.
But 1st it should be acknowledged that it's actually possible for two things to be correct @ the same time.

So in that context instead of percieved differences you end up with point of view.
Point of view is always the basis for a satisfying (non-tribal) conversation.

I have always believed that (in life) it is never what one wants but always how they want it that creates controversy.

Which brings us back to PM's . It is not possible to truly understand someone's intent unless you reach out.
If the point is to get someone's attention it is better to PM... then to move forward without the benefit of confirmed justification.

someone said the moderators for pop os removes posts that criticize any part of their distribution. guy said he mentioned something about the cosmic desktop and it got deleted. So I think they take things a little too personally.

It reminds me of an admin on a sports fishing forum that I had been a member of for 15 years. Had my account removed because he disagreed with what I said. Met my fishing buddy there and it was a good place
to share tips and fishing reports. But some admins power trip like that which is unfortunate.

you could say when two parties continue to argue they are both wrong.

Thats why I use reddit it allows for PM and has a lot of topics. I remember barack obama mentioning reddit and its been around for a long time.
