image mounting is executed incorrectly

I had to abandon "partimage" a while ago because it stopped appearing in some repositories... Now I've noticed that none of the context menu options mount the image.
What I discovered a year ago is that you had to press "play" in the "Gnome-Disk-Utility" program; it doesn't require root permissions, so what's wrong?
To be honest, I've always restored, but it can be helpful to explore the files just to copy a bit.
